Dealing with Age Differences During an Interview

Kids complain that adults don't understand them and vice versa. At this time, it could really hurt you. There'll be a point on an interview when you'll be asked to talk about YOU; your feelings, interests, likes and dislikes, etc. This information will provide the employer with food for thought beyond the information indicated on your resume. Now is the time to think long and hard about what topics you will choose to discuss to best convey your message in a manner to which the interviewer can relate.

Think back to conversations you've had in the past with persons in the same age group. Be creative. Mirror and take cues from the decision-makers you are meeting with relevant to interview etiquette and protocol. Find common ground.

People of all ages have more in common than you realize. Now is the time to think about it.
