Arrive for your interview about 10 minutes early . You now have time to review your resume so the content is fresh in your mind and fill out the application NEATLY and completely. Refrain from writing "see attached resume" unless told otherwise. Take a moment to turn off your cell phone.
Be "device-free" when the interviewer comes out to greet you. NO headsets or handhelds. Extend your hand for a FIRM handshake (without sweaty palms) and a "thank you for taking the time to meet with me."
If you meet several people individually, show the same
enthusiasm
with everyone and keep your answers
consistant. Interviewers compare notes afterwards to see if a candidate "tailors" their responses throughout the process.
When the interview has ended, you will be walked to the elevator. Inquire about the next step of the process, ie., "do you have a timeframe for responding to applicants?". Repeat the firm handshake and "thank you". If you haven't already obtained a business card, here is your chance. That card provides the
e-mail or snail-mail address for your very last step,
a well written "thank you" note AND a new LinkedIn contact.
Smile!
Do you get really nervous before an interview? Then I suggest skipping the coffee that morning and having a buttered roll before your interview. The carbs will slow you down a bit. A new tip! Have a piece of cucumber an hour before your interview. It has the same effects as carbs!!!
